GROUCE certified his induction into Sub Conscious Records early this year with the release of his long-awaited final mixtape RAINY DAY WOMEN NO.9 & 42 which features an assortment of songs showcasing both the rap and singing abilities that GROUCE is increasingly becoming known for; and in the process has firmly cemented his place within the Sydney Hip Hop scene. This latest offering from GROUCE, now in-conjunction with Sub-C Records, is predominately a hip-hop/rap mixtape, but also at times can feature songs that are hard to classify - surprisingly this fact is now found to be part of its appeal. GROUCE on RAINY DAY WOMEN NO.9 & 42 is accompanied by a variety of Sydney hip-hop producers catering to many musical tastes, but also features a couple re-workings of classic instrumentals much-loved within the hip-hop sphere and even those unbeknownst to many hip-hoppers - one example could be the 6th track titled Eleanor Rigby Redux, a song-title known by Beatles fans across the globe.

Drawing influence from all genres of music and lyricism heard both here and abroad; GROUCE fuses a unique blend of styles all into the one distinct voice carrying with it a meticulous flow; which is almost always remarked as being the among the most recognizable on any song that it is featured on.

GROUCE yields a certain knack for cleverly incorporating sensitive issues long considered taboo by the establishment and the overly maligned corporate-machine. Melodically-savvy and with a twisted sense of humour, GROUCE cultivates a contagious brand of hip hop that is admittedly easily digestible by those who are fortunate to consume it. GROUCE’s live show joined by DJ Skae is also as entertaining; fast becoming a hot topic around the water-cooler due to the unpredictable nature of the live show now performed in Sydney and hopefully soon interstate.

If someone was to describe GROUCE’s ever-increasing repertoire of songs, a person might begin to describe it collectively as unrelenting; provocative; educational though comically-driven; experimental and pioneering but also firmly grounded to the roots who they themselves were pioneers; highly-crafted with an almost overly-heightened attention to detail; and as cosmically foreign to some as to say it almost borders further beyond the norm than anything else before it.
